The Geekbox: Episode 260

It’s a super-sad week, on account of the tragic passing of director/writer/actor Harold Ramis, who’s probably best-known as Dr. Egon Spengler from Ghostbusters. If you were around during the ’80s and early ’90s, well, Ramis was probably responsible for writing and/or directing a lot of the movies that made you laugh: stuff like Animal House, Caddyshack, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Stripes, Meatballs, Back to School, Groundhog Day, and (of course) the two Ghostbusters films. And for my seven-year-old self, Egon Spengler was perhaps the earliest example of a character I really identified with — a guy who made nerdy, introverted people seem cool (back in an era where this wasn’t nearly as commonplace). And that’s all thanks to Ramis’ sharp wit, killer delivery, and top-notch writing talent. We’ve lost one of the greatest comedians of our time, in one of those heartbreaking events that remind us our heroes are only human.

Please enjoy… and if I got something wrong, or didn’t go into enough detail on some other thing, oops in advance!

mgs1

Eric Neigher: So, since I don’t play any Metal Gear games
Eric Neigher: I have no idea what the fuck the story is in MGR
