The Amazing Spider-Man (No, the new one)

Postby Lord_Xv » Jul 8th, 2012 @ 10:14pm

His power set is more in line with the original comics. There's this motivation with avenging Uncle ben and his dad. I'm on the fence about if I enjoyed it or not. I'll know more how I feel about it with the sequel.

The set pieces and spectacle were better in the original trilogy but the fight scenes were better in this one. Also Andrew Garfield is a way better Spider-Man than Tobey Maguire

I think a sequel has a lot of potential. This move was decent. My main problem was I didn't need the movie to waste nearly an hour on how Peter Parker became Spider Man. I've heard it a million times before already.

I liked it a lot. Maybe it's because i saw the first one a week before seeing this one, and man Spider-Man 1 does not hold up as well as I remember it. It's really not that great. I agree, Garfield is a much better Spidey than Tobey.

With the sequels, I hope they don't just pack villains into it. The third movie had too many so they couldn't just match him against one to develop a story between the two

So should I go see it or not? I was quite fond of the previous run.

Prevailing sentiment among the small sample size of people I know says that the film was enjoyable, and that this guy does a pretty good (if not superior) job of playing Peter Parker.

(Side note: I just caught myself almost typing "Tony Parker". This is going to be a long summer... :( )

I'd say yeah, though it spends like an hour on the origin, which is why some people didn't like it.

The movie was definitely flawed, but Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are way better leads than Tobey Maguire and whatsherface

Watch it, if only for delicious Emma Stone and thigh high socks.

Saw it today and definitely liked it more than any of the Raimi trilogy.
Plus I could watch Rhys Ifans play a brick wall and still come away satisfied. (Though the lizard did look a little goofy. Nothing so bad as to take me out of the movie)

Surprisingly, I didn't think of the goombas from the SMB movie once during the whole movie, so Lizard's look didn't bother me much.

My friend was upset that they didn't kill her off in the movie. He didn't seem to get that it would've fallen totally flat if they did it in this one.

I think that's when I realized exactly why LiQuid hates anything that has to do with nerd fandom.

I really loved this and I fully expected it to stink. It was mega corny in spots (the entire crane scene *barf*) but the casting was great and I loved most of the writing. Mostly I love that they were brave enough to not have MJ in this at all, instead just focusing on Gwen, which is going to pay dividends in future movies. Andy Garfield and Emma Stone were paydirt and the perfect antidote to 3 movies of terrible fucking performances and melodrama from Toby and the chick that played MJ in Raimi's abortions. I've sat through almost every comic movie from the last decade just praying for it to end, or for the sweet release of death but this was the first time since maybe Punisher War Zone or Iron Man where I actively want to see it again.

The Amazing Spider Man No the new one

Postby WarnerUnume » Jan 17th, 2019 @ 8:34am

Is it a re-hash, because in the comics they have "The Amazing Spider-man" and "The Spectactular Spider-man" I think also just "Spider-man" and they seemed to be whole different stories from each other.
