Jurassic World

Postby totoro » Aug 1st, 2014 @ 4:25am

I was on Reddit and saw that the director of Jurassic World had tweeted/shared/whatevered this still of Chris Pratt in Jurassic World. Wasn't aware of what the general consensus of the potential of this movie was, whether it was something that people were excited for.

I know nothing about this movie. But it better be filled with dinosaurs covered in feathers.

My understanding is that the movie takes place 22-years after the original Jurassic Park (1993 to 2015), with the dinosaur theme park fully functional and in operation for several years. The plot is something like a new attraction to bump up attendance goes awry (gee, imagine that).

How did that Chris Prat guy go from being no one to being in literally every blockbuster movie?

The only way they could have feathers is if this was a reboot and it's not.

I mean he seems like a pretty generic looking dudebro, which makes him perfect for the kinds of movies he's cast in. I just dunno how he got there. It was like that white-ass white dude that was in Avatar. Didn't even know his name one day and then the next (I still didn't know his name but) he was in like every fucking movie I watched for like two whole years.

I remember reading something that they justified the fatherless dinosaurs by having them genetically modified to look more like what people expect dinosaurs to look like than what they actually looked like. The velociraptors are actually Utah Raptors but velociraptors sounds cooler. Even though the actual ones were chicken sized feathered terrors.

The raptor pack at the end was pretty cool. I like the idea of the game warden of the park having a pack of trained raptors, like foxhounds.

No, I will slap the shit out of you! Fuck you and every shitty fucking human being who don't want feathers on their dinosaurs because 'mah childhood memoriezzzz!!' Fuck off. Know why dinosaurs are cool? Because they're fucking science. They're these crazy fucking monsters that lived millions of years ago and are a giant dick-slap in the face to stupid mouth-breathing creationists and the like. And guess what, buddy? Most of these dinos had fuckin' feathers. Because that's what science has told us lately. If you hate the idea of dinosaurs with feathers, you hate science. You're just as fucking bad as god damned biblethumpers who deny cold, hard, scientific fact because they don't like the idea that the fairy tales they believe in are wrong.

How would the dinosaurs have evolved feathers between the first 3 movies and this one? Regardless of whether dinos had feathers or not, in the Established Jurassic Park Canon they do not. Why would you expect that to suddenly change?

Jurassic Park doesn't even have dinosaurs. It's an easy out for the stupid "feathers" debate. Jurassic Park has genetically created chimeras that are as much not dinosaurs as they are. That was pretty much what the plot of the first movie was, that they had taken on way more amphibian traits than expected.

Just think a minute about what you just said. You somehow managed to top LiQuid talking about the canon of Jurassic Park.

Also, if it doesn't even have dinosaurs, then why the hell am I watching this?

He's right, technically, but the goal here is to get people eaten so ad hoc dinos work for all intents and purposes.

Not remotely, but like, tell yourself what you want so you can keep living in your delusions, you filthy ignorant biblethumper.

Dinos with feathers are badass and even more terrifying.

Image

Don't even consider ideas of dinos with things like camouflaged plumage so that they're even more sneaky and deadly, or all the biological advantages having feathers gives dinos for survival and murder. Feathers = muppets. Because birds can't be terrifying. Oh wait.

I'm sure I will still love it because a bad dinosaur movie is still better than 99% of the slop Hollywood shits out that nerds gobble up. But man, even for all the hate inside me it fucking hurts to poo poo a JP movie. I mean it's got a mosasaurus. Even if it's a big, stupid CG cartoon now instead of all the amazing old practical effects, how many times am I ever going to see a mosasaurus in a major motion picture?
