Did the movie just instant replay itself?!

Yeah pretty much. That's not that uncommon in Kung Fu movies and it's even better since sometimes the instant replay is clearly a different take.

That gif is actually the sole reason I chose this movie.

I figured it was some kind of clever thing having to do with a recent film we watched also called Flashpoint.

I humbly regret my decision in this choice. Spend your time watching something like Ong Bak instead.

You guys are insane. You guys need punches or something. This the the best movie box pick in awhile just for the scene where the guy getting suplexed throws a girl like 10 feet. And you watch her fly in slow motion. Or when the guy crashes into the tree and it sends the main bad guy flying in the air so the main character could no-scope him in mid-air.

The movie also had some nice parkour stunts.

I'll paraphrase a filmmaker from when he was actually making good movies and say: an action sequence without a story is a pretty boring thing.

The story in Flash Point is bad or obvious stuff that the film is just going through the motions of. So obviously whats good about the movie is the action(specifically the fighting) and the so bad it's good lulworthy stuff like I mention before, and it's not just 10 minutes of the film it's peppered throughout. The beginning with the freeze frame dancing dude, the whole "bomb in a turkey" sequence, the bad guys trying to get away from the cops while their mom is riding shotgun, the dancing guy doing his thang in the jail cell. What was up with all those old people waiting to use the beach? They're like "Fuck it! You only live once!" or some shit.

My defense of this film isn't "Bu bu bu teh kung fu!" I feel it is thoroughly enjoyable in most aspects. Especially the first time watching it. I can understand saying the film falls apart or isn't a classic or something like that, but at face value it was pretty rad. Ofcourse that's just my umpinion.

You know just as well as I do that a sporting event can have dramatic tension on par with any movie. Quite often a story line can develop over the course of a game/match to say nothing of situations that arise over the course of a season or a career. Underdogs, come from behind wins, a player or team overcoming a long drought to win a game over a rival, etc. There may not be dialog creating that tension within a game, but it still exists.

If the story in this movie made me care about the characters it would have been a great deal better. Becoming emotionally invested in something can make it instantly compelling for an observer.

I like plenty of action scenes in action movies where I don't have an emotional attachment to the characters. Whatever director said that is a dipshit.

The amount of screen time spent on shitty dialogue in this movie far outstripped the amount of time there was action. The action in the movie was fine, but it wasn't enough to carry the whole movie. Based on this I feel that the movie was pretty boring.
