Allegedly, yes, including a missing scene from Jedi, showing Luke constructing his new lightsaber and hiding it in R2-D2.

Again, however, I am not giving that man more of my money. I got the animated Clone Wars from Genndy Tartokovsky, that's as good as it's going to get.

Where were you in 2006?

Star Wars
Empire
Jedi

Each a 2-disc set, widescreen, with the original theatrical version and the 2004 fuck-up version.

They're in 4:3 with fake widescreen, not formatted for 16:9 tvs.

Assuming they have the original versions (which after the above post by GAM, why wouldn't they? [it says in the description: "For Both Versions Full Screen and Widescreen"]) I'll definitely buy the original trilogy. No way am I buying Eps. 1-3.

Plinkett's episode 3 review was gold, by the way. Every point is so on the nose it's not even funny.

Well, actually it is pretty funny.

EDIT: I get what you mean, Higgins, about the widescreen. If they are making the HD version, though, they would have to re-scan the film itself, I would think. So hopefully it has the honest-to-god widescreen un-Lucas-fied versions on there.

Fair enough. But I'll take 4:3 widescreen with Han shooting first over 16:9 and Greedo any day of the week.

Yeah, but $90 for three movies is expensive

edit - I just went and looked at the pricing, and the original movies are pre-ordering for $45 on Amazon. That is actually quite reasonable.

I'll be getting the BD 6 set, but I spent all my enthusiasm on Star Wars long ago. This is just sort of upkeep.

99% sure they're not, as Lucas claims they lost the original cuts.

No shit - they had to have something to work with in 1997 when they did the "Special Editions". They probably just don't want to scan it in high resolution since it would essentially only be an extra or an alternate version. I'd pay a little extra to have a Blu-ray copy of the originals with cleaned up visuals (not necessarily redone effects) and remastered audio.
