My Lord, I have a cunning plan.

Re watching one of my favorite Britcom series "Black Adder." This show has to be one of the most intelligent sitcoms ever made, which admittedly isn't saying much, but I am a huge history buff and love the historic situations they insert wacky ass comedy into.

Never heard of it but Married With Children is the best sitcom ever.

Unhappily Ever After was better. It had Bobcat Goldthwait, Geoff Pierson, Nikki Cox. But Bobcat was the best, beat the shit out of Al in Married with Children. He was a puppet that spoke. Boom. Instantly more awesome.

Unhappily Ever After was just a cheap copy of Married with Children and was about half as funny.

Talking Puppet. Bobcat Goldthwait. I won't argue that Married with Children was a 'better show' but I remember far more from Unhappily Ever After than I do Married with Children. I think it was more the sexual content. Unhappily Ever After had more sexual innuendo/cat calls/boob than Married with Children had but that was more intentional to compete with Married with Children.
Nikki Cox is also hot as fuck, btw did I mention... talking puppet, Bobcat Goldthwait yet?

Unhappily Ever after hit about the time I started to notice tits. So yeah. That also had something to do with it. 1995 was a gooood year for me as a 12 year old.

Also, to the OP; Fawlty Towers was better than Black Adder.

This.

Also, The Cosby Show was better than both of those.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Just totally wrong on all counts. For starters, Family Matters was a retarded version of The Cosby Show. And those shitty shows about unremarkable white families that relied on poop/fart jokes were just asinine. Seriously. Just fucking awful.

And clearly The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is better than everything listed so far. And if you disagree, you're a fucking terrible human being.

Mr Belvedere was better than Fresh Prince too!

At this point I'm just inciting comparisons. Overall. Full House was the most memorable of these sitcoms of my youth. Married with Children was the most exotic. Fawlty Towers was that weird show my dad made me watch. Fresh Prince was something I watched near the end of my youth, hitting 12-13 years old and discovering what was cool in school (it was Dragonball).

Ahhh shit I tell I lie, there was a show... it had the inner monologue of an adult but it was about a teenage boy and his family. Fuck WHAT WAS THAT SHOW... come on, you gotta know what I'm talking about... the voice over was an adult, like reflecting on his youthful ways, christ what was that show. THAT show is the best of these shows. I think it was a late 80s show.

You're right. Clueless was a better sitcom (come on dude, I'm just spouting out TGIF shows.)

Point taken. Fresh Prince was a pretty good mediocre alright sometimes sitcom that almost compared into the shadow of such epics as Unhappily Ever After.

I feel like all this arguing over sitcoms is pointless when sketch comedies like Monty Python, Kids in the Hall, Mr. Show, In Living Color, Dave Chapelle, Abbott and Costello, Mad TV, The Carol Burnett Show, and so forth, are clearly better than any sitcom.

Ignore the rest of this thread.

Black Adder is genius. While I'll always like Atkinson in Mr Bean, nothing will ever come close to Black Adder. It's still my high bar for British comedies.

I had no idea Hugh Laurie was British until I saw this series, the juxtaposition of his ultra intelligent Dr. House and complete buffoonish nob on Black Adder is also quite fun.

I actually agree with KG on this one. Fawlty Towers wins. Also, Are you being Served was fantastic.
