I can dig it. At least they didn't give it some retarded name like Spiderman: The Highschool Years.

Sorry, but Andrew Garfield doesn't look the part.

The hair (amongst other things) is wrong.

Cut the hair and it might help.

Trying it now.

That's a little better, though he still has a long way to go (giraffe-like neck notwithstanding).

F2B I think OG hair is vastly better than your hair. Parker's a dweeb, not a GQ model.

I like the eyes, but not the fact you can see Peter's behind them.

Trailer's supposed to be attached with Captain America: The First Avenger next Friday.

I suspect the eyes won't appear transparent in the actual film.
The suit looks as if it was pieced together from basketball material.
That lower interior photo is a much better shot than one EW opted to run on its cover.
The rear shot with Parker's head off to one side reminds me of The Amazing Spider-Man issue number 50.

I saw an article, maybe on Topless Robot, where the author was absolutely LOSING HIS SHIT over the basketball esque material the suit is made out of, reinforcing my belief that comic book fans are the worst people on the planet.

What I find is that so often these "fans" are barely fans at all, just casual people with extreme emotions. I guarantee whoever wrote the article doesn't even read Spider-Man on a regular basis. I asked the guy I know that owns Amazing Fantasy #15 to current, and he said "Whatever, it looks fine, looks like Spider-Man to me."

It's just nerds man. Everybody needs to bitch about shit. I don't wanna point fingers cause I bitch about shit just as much as the next guy but whenever I see someone totally lose their shit over something stupid like the material Spidey makes his suit out of I have to shake my head, regardless of their level of fandom.

Except for the eyes, the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man suit was pretty spot-on.

The Christopher Reeve Superman was pretty much perfect too.

The Iron Man Mark III suit couldn't be much better.

That was just an ironic metacommentary on the histrionics of fanboys. I can't think of a single comic book outfit I haven't liked.

Circumstantial evidence aside, I can understand where the outrage comes from. If you've grown up with these characters and followed their stories for years, you feel a sense of ownership and a stake of interest as much as the artists and writers. So when a drastic change like this is made, a gut reaction of dislike is not unheard of.

Not that I'm excusing totally batshit rantings that employ profanity and irrationality.

Anyway, I just checked out that issue of EW, and despite the debate over Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone has totally sold me as Gwen Stacy.

I'll reserve my judgement until I at least see a trailer, but I at least buy Andrew Garfield as a high school student more than Tobey Maguire.

Another working link (for now):

For me the biggest disappointment isn't the costume, or the way Peter Parker looks, it's that it appears that this movie is just a remake of the origin story. For Pete's sake, give us something new.

I'm going to laugh if the villain is the green goblin again lol. What a joke retelling the story again. Just because Spider-Man 3 was a flop doesn't mean they gotta redo everything geez.
