It is really that bad. I'm sort of hoping someone likes it so they can explain why.

So far I haven't even heard anybody really explain why they think it's that bad, aside from a lot of hyperbole.

Apparently we've messed up the inventory at Netflix. This was suppose to ship today for me, but they sent me my second in queue instead. The anticipation is killing me.

The story makes no sense, the pacing is terrible, the dialogue is English but sounds like it was badly translated from French, a third of the movie is horrible CGI(it looks like a really bad Pixar movie), and there is no humor at all.

In about 22 weeks :)

I will say I think it was a gutsy move recommending a movie you haven't seen, and for that I commend you. All this negative hype *is* making me want to see it a bit more, if only to see *how* bad it is.

I sent my Blu-Ray back already, so the Blu-ray in the So Cal region should be available.

When I say theres no humor I don't just mean in the movie, I mean theres nothing you can even say is so bad its funny. You can't even really make fun of the movie to make it enjoyable.

When are you going to watch it?

Plot? What plot? There seem to be several different ideas/themes but none of them are fully developed or cohesively tied together. It is sort of like the second season of LOST except worse (it is possible). Southland Tales shockingly make more sense.

It is in English. I'm pretty sure the actors were not speaking English. This results in monotonous reading of poorly written lines dubbed over bad acting.

The visuals (the strong point of the movie) are confusing. There are only three physical actors. The mix of CGI and real in movies is usually used to expand the universe. In this movie simple humans are animated .... poorly. Why? It distracts and never sells the viewer.

My take on the main plot:

Spoiler: show
The Egyptian god Horus has been sentenced to death in seven days. Why? He decides to spend those seven days having a good time in 2095's New York. This future is controlled by a corrupt politician and a mega evil corporation who's stock and trade is eugenics. Cleverly this corporation is called Eugenics instead of something more obvious like evil genetic manipulations R us. How does a condemned god spend his last seven days? Killing potential hosts for his spirit, thawing out cryogenically frozen political activists, possessing said activist and lots of sex with blue haired white chicks. Who is this blue haired wonder? She doesn't even know. She likes to hang out with this universe's man in back (who does a great Jedi death scene), cry blue tears, get caught in raids, warm the heart of one of the worlds foremost eugenic scientists, eat weird things, take mysterious drugs and be weirdly okay with being raped by a god possessed recently thawed ex-activist. A supposedly popular activist that no one recognizes except the corrupt powers to be that send not one but two hammer head lobster clawed death assassins. The type of assassin that misunderstood the saying 'take a bite out of crime' and bit a police inspector in the head five years ago. What does the police inspector have to do with the "plot"? Nothing. Just another poorly animated CGI character to drain interest away. O yeah, the multiple rapes end with a kid and the blue haired girl has a kid but no memory because of her excessive mysterious drug use has led to the loss of her memory and her becoming full "human" but not so human that she couldn't have the spawn of a god possessed activist.

Are you seriously trying to make sense out of anything in this movie? How did the 2nd hammerhead assassin swim in the air? When it wasn't swimming fully formed through the pipes? How did the inspector know his "old friend" was in the apartment wreckage? Why even have the evil/good doctor chick? Why did the pyramid kill of Senator Lard?

Hahaha, I'm glad I skipped Bob's spoilers! He would have ruined a decent flick! By the way, you summed it up PERFECTLY, except somehow you guys are interpreting those events as bad. Maybe I just have a better nonsense filter than you guys. Ok, the inexplicable mix of human and CG characters (why the fuck were half of the humans CG for no reason?!) I thought it was decent...

How can you guys deny:

Ancient Egyptian gods playing MONOPOLY!

Image

Hammerhead Shark Assassin!

Image

Evil Horus relaxing, wiped after a hard night's raping!

Image

That's all golden shit right there! And even though the plot was RETARDED, it made enough sense that I wasn't just sitting there scratching my head the whole time. Here's the notes from my friend and I watching in IRC. Show started at 17:13 for timestamp reference (this be long):

I seriously dont think this is for pure whimsy, I actually think the director was trying to make a statement by having the gods play games (in another scene they play cards). I really don't know what statement that was, but I think you are seriously underestimating the severe doucheness of this film.

LiQuid,

I like most nonsense. It is the main reason I frequent these boards. This abortion of a movie has provided plenty of fodder to talk about. Mission accomplished.

They had actual live actors for the movie. They decided to animate (poorly) all but three of them. They decide to do it b/c they thought it makes the movie better.

Why I find this so horrible is I'm pretty sure it takes itself seriously. It wasn't premeditated awful. The production staff thought this was a deep, meaningful, thought provoking movie and that is sad.

Totally fucking agree. There was nothing fun about. Yes like playing shitty games Co-op, it's fun to rip a bad film with friends. But most of us are not watching this film in those ideal situations.

You and your friend are the entertainment at the point not the film, the film is just providing a platform for you to entertain yourselves. So calling this a decent film is asisine because you only enjoyed it because you enjoyed your friends company.

If I saw every film while recieving head then all films would be fucking awesome, but sadly I don't. I try to have the films I watch entertain me. Maybe thats why you hate 'good films', because those film distract you from entertaining yourself.

I might actually pull myself out of Moviebox. You guys seem completely incapable of seeing the forest for the trees and it's heartbreaking. Does every movie have to be Forest Gump or Evil Dead to provoke any kind of emotional response from you people? I guess given the "Internet is for Funnay" thread, it's to be expected... I'm not even on the same logistical plane as you warts.
