'79 counts as 80's

This is how you enjoy 80's music:

Step 1, find a 1-hit wonder you enjoy.

Step 2, find the album that the song is from

Step 3, listen to the rest of the album

A lot of indie/pop bands that I listen to have started a kind of 80's revival and it really turned me on to that sound and there's just an ocean of that music already out there that you would never hear if your only exposure to the decade was its radio hits.

60's and 70's were so much better for music than the 80's.

I could go on, but I don't want to.

All the 80's had going for it was

The 80's were the best of everything culturally, except fashion. That shit sucked.

And you can never go wrong with some Van Dammage... just sayin.

Just got Re-Animator: Millennium Edition: Disc 1 in the mail. What's different about the millennium edition? What's on the other disc/s?

The millennium edition is supposed to have a better quality picture and sound, with a couple commentary tracks if you're into that sort of thing. The second disc has a bunch of interviews with the director and producer, composer, etc.

Awesome. This movie has been on my to-watch list for quite some time now. This gives me an excuse to commit.

I watched the trilogy around Halloween. I'll watch it again so it is fresh in my memory and so I'll have a clear idea what happened in the first movie.

LiQuid we need your pick for next week. :)

Hopefully I can find time to watch this one, I've got so much to do this week.

Actually, shouldn't there be two weeks to watch it? I thought we were going bi-monthly.

More people signed up than expected, if it was bi-monthly some people would have to wait a year to get to pick a movie.

There are so many participants it changed to weekly. One week advanced notice and one week to watch. However, the threads are not deleted. I'm sure the discussion can go on as long as it needs to.

I will most likely watch this tomorrow night over a beer or eight. :D

Fun Fact - In Newfoundland & Labrador canned beer come in eight packs, while bottled beer comes in the regular six and twelve packs.

I know right! It's odd...I think it's just to make us spend more money. :D

BTW, I didn't have the chance to watch this yet. I've had a touch of the stomach flu the past couple of days.

IMDB has a listing for a new Re-Animator being made, the president dies and West uses the reagent to bring him back to life. Sounds awesome to me

Finally got a chance to watch this last night, and I was mega sober! I didn't love it, to be honest. It has some really hilarious moments. The zombie cat attack and pretty much the entire finale was flawless, but it was so dry and lifeless in between that I didn't really succeed as a horror or comedy, or really anything in between. It gave off the impression that all involved were trying too hard. The characters were all putrid, every one of them.

Gotta say though, it has maybe the single best opening credits sequence of any movie I've ever seen in my life.

I got to watch this the other day as well. I'm going to have to agree with LiQuid on this, overall the movie seemed dry. I found myself wanting to fast forward in a few places (but didn't). I will say that the main characters were sufficiently creepy, but that was about it.

There were a lot of bad decisions in the movie, but I guess that's how movies go.

I also think this film suffers because Night of the Creeps was so much better in the relatively same genre.
