Moviebox: 4/24 - 5/1 Re-Animator

Postby Mr_eX » Apr 17th, 2010 @ 8:56am

Right now this is just an announcement, you don't have to start watching it until 4/24.

A dedicated student at a medical college and his girlfriend become involved in bizarre experiments centering around the re-animation of dead tissue when an odd new student arrives on campus.

Welp, two comedy/horror in a row means my pick's gonna change.

I say stick with your original choice! Watching three comedy/horror movies in a row never killed anyone...or has it? That might make a great plot for a cheesy horror flick: attack of the killer movies!

Thanks for the support, but no, I need to bring this into the now. I can't say what my pick was going to be, cause it will certainly be my next pick, BUT I do have a rad one in the works that I haven't seen, but it sounds (and looks, from the trailer) like it will be really great. I don't know if that's a rule of movie club, that we have to have actually seen it to recommend it, but the one I have now was recommended by a person whose taste in flicks has never come in to question, so I think at the very least I will like it. Hopefully you all will as well. And as for my initial pick, guess you're just gonna have to wait! I don't foresee any problem in this club extending for a long, long time, so we should be back to me in a few months!

Just FYI, the dude in question is a close friend of mine that I'm actually watching all of these club flicks with, so while he's not an official member, he is one in spirit and through me.

While I do think Re-Animator is a horror comedy it's a different kind of comedy than Night of the Creeps.

If you are still hesitant about choosing a film because you're afraid of genre-monotony, please put the film you actually want as your pick. It kind of defeats the purpose of us being able to choose the films if we aren't actually choosing what we want to watch/show people. If you don't, you'll force me to use my pick to choose the film "Robsessed, the documentary that, "takes a look at how teenagers around the world have become obsessed with the young English actor, Robert Pattinson, star of the vampire-themed "Twilight" movies."

Thanks for the potential change-up. If all people are going to pick are within the same 'genre' then this shits going to get old quick. Not that Re-Animator and Night of the Creeps are the same type of film but they are close enough, I'm sure your new choice is just as good and will be a nice change of pace.

I think I've mentioned the film I'm going to choose once before on the threads. But I'll be surprised if anyone has heard of or watched this film. It's guaranteed to be a complete break from anything anyone else picks.

I mentioned that my pick might be too similar to Night of the Creeps but everyone said I should stick with my original choice instead of switching(my next choice would have been either Cyborg or Kickboxer)

You can't dodge a Van Damme bullet, you only think you did until you realize he's in front of you doing the splits getting ready to punch you in the junk.

If it is a Van Damme movie, there had better be a splits scene.

Is everyone changing their Avatars to the movie they are selecting or selected?

'The Nothing' stays even though that probably wont be my movie choice.

I like Re-Animator, but someone needs to punch Stuart Gordon in the balls for every time he's used "HP Lovecraft's" in the title of a movie.

Don't worry, I wasn't thinking comedy/horror for my pick...so at least we won't have 4 in a row. Stick with what you want, and if people don't like it, they won't participate for that round.

Cool choice, I have that movie sitting on my shelve for years.
It's one of those classic I never get a chance to watch it.

this movie has my full hearted support, now I have a reason to watch this! as a big fan of lovecraft im sure ill be disappointed in that department, im hoping brainless gore and a decent plot (maybe?) will make up for it....

also whats with the 80's? my idea moves about 7-8 years into the future...:P

The 80's was the best decade for action, sci-fi, and horror movies. It kind of sucked for music and TV though.

80's pop music is among the best music of all time! The only thing that sucked about music in the 80's was all the butt rock, but that's easily avoidable.
