Wow. Joker hijacks the cold intro, the title sequence, AND the episode? Genius.

Love the tribute to the Weeper of all villains.

Finally, new episodes! But too bad there's only one planned for May and another for June...

Friday, May 27th, 2011 at 6:30pm (ET) - "#56 The Scorn of Star Sapphire!" --
Batman teams up with Green Lantern Hal Jordan to face the evil Star Sapphire!

Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at 6:30pm (ET) - "#58 Time Out for Vengeance!" --
The JLI travel to the past to try and stop a force that wants to wipe out all the incarnations of Batman throughout time (Cave-Batman, Pirate Batman).

Agreed. The rumor is that all the new episodes of current shows are coming in a post-SDCC flood, right before the new cartoons debut in the fall.

Ok, starting from top left, let's see how many I can get.

- Azrael? Or an OMAC Batman? Kinda hard to make out.
- Red Rain Batman
- Uh, Big Head Batman, like Flash and GL?

Image

- Batman Beyond
- Zur-En-Arrh Batman
- No idea...Batman: TAS?
- Golden Age Batman

- No idea
- The Batman animated series
- Uh, Aquaman Batman?
- Robot Batman?

Yeah, no idea on a bunch of these...I guess Batman: TAS is on the bottom. The DKR Batman on the left. Plastic Batman.

Higgins, how could you miss The Dark Knight/Christian Bale Batman, SuperFriends Batman, and Adam West Batman?

Anyway, this was a good episode.

Cold intro with Vigilante singing "The Man in Grey and Blue" was all kinds of awesome.

Catwoman's sexy outfit from the 70s makes a memorable first appearance.

Lots of overlooked Batman villains get their long overdue debut, including Deadshot, Bane, and Killer Croc.

Each individual hero's turn as Batman was pretty amusing, but none more so than Plastic-Bat.

Lots of great nods to the Batman animated mythos, including Arrow Bat's "I am vengeance! I am the night! I am Batman!"

Now the long wait until May 27th begins, when Batman teams up with Green Lantern Hal Jordan to fight Star Sapphire... :|

Not only do they delay this Friday's brand new episode with Wonder Woman and Star Sapphire, they remove Brave and the Bold from the network's schedule line-up. WTF?

So for some ass-backwards reason, they've been premiering these episodes on iTunes instead of on Cartoon Network. They're already five episodes past "Night of the Batmen!"

I broke down and watched the latest episodes on iTunes.

The Wonder Woman theme from the 70s is the catchiest number of all times.

Lost patience and watched the final episodes through "special" means.

Overall, a decent crop, but the series finale gets meta as all hell, and is possibly the greatest send-off in the history of animated television.

Bat-Mite grows bored of the show, and purposely makes the show jump the shark so it will get cancelled and a new more dramatic Batman series will take its place.

The incorporation of all the elements of a JTS show were a nice touch.

Nice cameos by Ted McGinley and Henry Winkler!

This series had a great run, and has very much earned its place in the Batman animated pantheon.

Having just played through the DS game based on this show and reading up on the show's premise I decided it sounds like something I would like, so I'm gonna start watching some. I like the idea of a lighter take on Batman, team ups and (most importantly) appearances from more esoteric characters and villains. I just glanced over a list of characters that appear in this show and I'm unfamiliar with a LOT of them, so I figure this might be a good kiddie pool toe dip into some of the wackier DC characters and stuff I'm not reading in the New 52. Hoping for a show that doesn't take itself very seriously and if this is anything like the dialog in the game, it should be right up my alley.

No I never got around it it. I'm watching them in order now. Watched the first five last night and I'm totally not worthy of this show!! This is seriously the best show based on comic books ever made, including Adam West's Batman. The sheer number and obscurity of the characters they drop into this is borderline Morrisonian. One of the intros had SPORTSMASTER in it! (Sportsmaster might actually be better than Lord Death Man. I'll have to wait and see how he's represented here)

The show seems to very deliberately not give a shit about any continuity and instead "settles" for just being hilarious and fun. I like things that are hilarious and fun! I've been waiting for a hilarious and fun comic cartoon my entire life! Most of these comic cartoons take themselves way too seriously and are generally flashy but ultimately just kind of boring. Like that new awful looking Batman show that this got cancelled for. What a travesty.

This, though. This is perfect. I've actually made posts in this thread before and knew, I freaking KNEW that Lord Death Man was in it, and I never thought to question whether or not the show would be good because I assumed it was just another stiff. hyper serious, comic adaptation. Shame on me.

Sportsmaster is in multiple episodes of Young Justice. That show has hella obscure characters all over it as well - but it takes itself way more seriously - which could be a plus or a minus depending on who you are.

Batman is boring. Batman is the least interesting thing about this show by about a mile and a half. I said before that I like lighthearted takes on him. Adam West's Batman is great cause it's unapologetically goofy. The star of this show is the gold/silver age sensibilities and the crazy supporting cast. Batman almost plays the straight man to whatever his team up of the week is.

This show doesn't retroactively make me like modern Batman comics or Batman TAS, or any of the other junk he's been in. If there was a Batman comic on the shelf that was anything like this show (yes I know there is/was a comic adaptation of the show, I'm looking into it), I'd definitely read that, but none of the current 4 mainline comics are.

Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but it's certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots than the tortured avenger crying out for mommy and daddy.

Translation: You like Batman. You admitted so much in that sentence in bold.

And there is indeed a Batman comic that was like this show. They're called the Silver Age.

Silver Age comics are too wordy for me. I like the more cinematic style of modern comics personally. I'll probably check out issues of the adaptation of the show if I see any but I don't think I'll be going back and reading any of the circa 50s or 60s BatB comics.
