My cats have long hair, and it gets really matted and troublesome for them, and they shed everywhere as well. You know how we solve that problem? Not with scissors or clippers... but with one of these things:

You know, the thing that you're supposed to use to keep their fur clean, fluffy, and soft. It's a win-win situation. They love being petted/combed, they get a clean coat without uncomfortable tangles, they swallow less fur and have fewer hairballs. We get far less of a mess, and fluffy, soft, gorgeous cats to pet instead of gross, sticky, shaved monsters.

My parents have a nice wire comb back home that is basically a block with little wires sticking out that the excess hair wraps around attached to a handle. I use it on the cat back home when I'm there he seems to really enjoy it probably because it's a little scratchy on him as well. Always get a big wad of hair and than just pull it off and do it again where I get a smaller amount of hair and well after that's it's good usually.
Get outta here, Thunder Tits!

Yeah, that kind of comb is best, but I wanted to post a picture that was instantly recognizable. I have one of those combs and it does wonders for one of my cats. The other one though, her hair is so dense that the wirecomb has a hard time getting down between the fur. For that, I use this:

I'm not quite sure how it exactly works, but I wouldn't be surprised if magic were involved.

I have a wire brush, he loves it but the only way it would work the way you're saying is if you brush him for hours a day and then he sits still the rest of the day. It's not like he's bald now, maybe I'll take a picture of him when I get home.

It only takes like, 10-15 minutes to brush my cats. We do it once every day or two. Although if your dog is huge, I can understand if it might take longer. Maybe you need a bigger brush?

He's a medium sized dog. He has a lot of fur and his favorite thing to do is to roll around on the floor.

Shave that fucker bald. IMO, most dogs with really long fur look weird. Unless they're Beethoven. Then they look awesome.

Actually, Dogs and Humans can be both dependant and loyal.

Dependant would suggest that he needed me to survive. In that regards no, he's not, and neither are cats. Both are very much independant if left on their own in the wild to fend for themselves.

You could argue that 'dependant' could also mean that they depend on you for support, aide and sustenance. But thats what I depend on my wife for when I'm ill or just beaten down... does that make me not loyal to her?

Being loyal is being faithful to a person, ideal, custom, cause, or duty. Some (not all) dogs will defend/stand by their family to the end.... and sometimes after...

Spoiler: show

Dont get me wrong, I have a cat as well, and I love the little guy but if you put a gun to my head and made me vote on a geek-based forum, where word is law, I'd choose dog.

Researchers have figured out another reason why Cats are better than Dogs:

MSNBC wrote:Dogs drink by dipping their tongues into liquids like ladles. A little pool of water is brought into the mouth every time Fido takes a gulp from the toilet bowl. Cats, in contrast, touch only the curled-back tip of the tongue onto the surface of the liquid. When the tongue is drawn back up into the cat's mouth, a thin column of the liquid is drawn up as well. Then the cat closes its mouth around that column.
This is the explanation why cats don't make the same kinds of messes that dogs make when they drink.

If you're going to reference 2girls1cup, none of them ate their shit - it was always spit out again or thrown up.

Edit: Also, yes. Humans have incredible capacity for stupidity.
