Good Job, Brain!: Episode 54

I want you to know how much I detest typing the words “Epic Fail” into a blog post on this site (I hate you and your run-into-the-ground catchphrases, Internet), but hey, that’s what this week’s episode is all about!

The Comedy Button — Episode 69 (2013-03-15)
This week, we learn that Ryan Scott — the king of lounging — still wears thermal underwear, ponder Etsy-crafted anal beads, recall our international travels, laugh at broke drug dealers, shoot bugs with shotguns, meet our heroes, scratch our heads at the idea of a Comedy Button video game, and consider our dream jobs. Starring Scott Bromley, Brian Altano, Anthony Gallegos, Ryan Scott, and Max Scoville.

The Geekbox: Episode 211

Sorry for the notable late publish this week — truth be told, I was kinda passive-aggressively putting this one off, because publishing it makes it real.

We say goodbye to founding host Karen Chu this week. The upshot is that she’s taken an exciting new job at Twitch, but it means that she needs to step down from the podcast to avoid potential conflicts of interest (much like previous hosts Justin Haywald and Greg Ford had to do in the past). It’s something I’ve known was coming for a while, and — to get all selfish for a moment — I’d be lying if I said I was anything less than super-bummed about it. In her 131 appearances, Karen has been a pretty big part of what’s held this show together for four years, as well as being one of the greatest collaborative partners I have ever had, and one of my best friends in the world.

I’m hoping we’ll still get her on the show from time to time, but this definitely marks (more than any other cast change in the show’s history) a new era for the Geekbox. We’ll be seeing some old and new faces in the coming weeks (and maybe a new regular host if we’re lucky), but no one and nothing is ever truly gonna replace Karen. Wish her well over on her Twitter account @momopeche (and you can still hear her every week on Good Job, Brain!). We’ll miss you, Karen!

Bada bing! Keep your eyes open as we head down the dark alley of crime. Learn about the history of the tommy gun, mafia lingo, and the fascinating start of early crime scene investigation. Test your crime IQ with our quizzes about notable real and fictional criminals, and play a round of “Stolen? Or Not Stolen?” about famous (and possibly purloined) prized possessions. This week, we ask Ryan how his life is going, discuss our hatred of dolphins, beg for some horribly cooked food, discover the coolest book ever, read corny jokes for blind people, fix our cars like real men, deal with a coffee conundrum, and pit crappy cereal mascots against one another. Starring Scott Bromley, Brian Altano, Anthony Gallegos, Ryan Scott, and Max Scoville.

The Geekbox: Episode 210

This week, we go all retro with G.I. Joe and Ninja Turtles talk. For some reason, filmmaker Michael Bay has decided to take TMNT icon April O’Neil in the stripper-next-door (Megan Fox) direction instead of girl-next-door (my favorite choice, Anna Kendrick). No accounting for taste, I suppose.
