The Geekbox: Episode 163

My awesome wife April fills in for the absent Karen Chu this week, to nerd out about Venture Bros. Just a quick comment on the latest episode. Japanese cartoons were a hit here in Belgium and in France since the early eighties. They mainly appeared in a children TV show called Récré A2 (récré means school recess) which was on from 1978 to 1988. Most shows were from Japan although not quite similar to more modern anime, were very japanese looking.

For more info check out the wikipedia article about the show (in french unfortunately):

Keep up the awesome podcasting! Cheers from Belgium!

The discussion of Monkey Paw’s Kickstarter project was a complete waste of time and you should all be ashamed. They are doing the sequel, not the original game, as you would have known if you had took one minute to go to Kickstarter and skim thru the pitch instead of just relying on a Kotaku headline.

    Nice episode.

Except for the fact you guys shit on something you have not even heard of.

Elite Squad and Elite Squad 2 are great movies and one of the very rare occassions where a sequel is just as good as the original. I take it you scoffed at those because you’ve never heard of them?

Jose Padilha, just judging by those two movies, is a great director and might actually make the Robocop remake intriguing. Though, granted I’m not really looking forward to it.
