awesome i’m glad there is an itunes feed on this

Make with the new episodes! I’m checking the website every morning in hopes of ep2.

Krispy Kreme came west to Cali, not in reverse. It was founded in North Carolina and can be found all over the world, including the northeast US. It’s much better than Dunkin. SRSLy

good stuff man. reminds me a bit of the brodeo

after weeks of waiting i did some uncovering and found out why no LANparty. love you ryan, both me and my lady do. we both very saddened by what im sure to you is old news but as of now it has been 5 mins for us to know. we love you guys, you, anthony, matt, robert and tina… and of course shawn, sean and geoff. miss you guys so much… xxx teddy and jai.

The file size is way too big for a 2 hour podcast. I regularly listen to ESPN and MSNBC podcasts, and they’re extremely small for their length (ie. 50 minutes = 11 mb).

You guys should release a bandwidth-challenged version of your podcast that’s lower in quality but easier on the megabits (ie. 20-30 mb instead of 70), so that folks in third world country like me can listen to you easier.

I’m looking forward to Episode 2. Keep up the great work guys!

Spent MLK weekend finishing up Valkyria Chronicles and while I won’t say it’s innovative, it mixed things up enough to keep me playing (not a big strat-rpg fan) and start playing again upon completion. It also has a kick ass story not normally associated with an anime presentation.

Sadly you are 22 in the UK over all damn when will people learn. OK Itunes podcasts are ruled by well English stuff out of the list of non english podcasts you are second to flight of the concords. I am not counting a podcast about free ring tones for the Iphone because thats just well not right.

OK I am calling for a Rebel FM Vs Geek Box, Chuf Vs Rydog no holds barred war of the ages. Super Street Fighter 2 HD ReMix winner take all pride of the internet 3 round war. Fear Rydog and his Guile turtle technique.

Well I just checked and you’re the #1 audio podcast on iTunes! You even beat Ricky Gervais and Oprah ;-) This might be just in Canada, as that’s where I am, but still that is an awesome achievement!

I was a little disappointed to not hear Tina but the new people I did hear were Brilliant! Please oh please have it in the comic store again! The show was so much fun to listen to and it seemed like it was fun to make on your end.

I am waiting patiently for the second… Which I hope is in a few days.

Okay on itunes you are currently #19 in the US #3 in Games and Hobbies, while in Canada your are #9 over all, and have the top spot in games and hobbies ahead of Rebel.
Now the conspiacy lover in me thinks the only reason there was such a long delay was so people would find other places to download it, and then not download from itunes, thereby not making it #1 overall like Rebel FM.
As for coffee a medium double-double from Tim Horton’s is very popular where I come from.

    Downloading now! Can’t wait!!

Good job on the first episode!

I’m right there on the comments about “Planetary”…it’s damn near perfection in comics form and so very nearly done!

Can’t wait for the next ep! Cheers =)

Great podcast, looking forward to the next one. Glad that the podcast is finally up on itunes so now I can subscribe to this awesome podcast, keep it up Ryan.

    Great podcast!

I like the Ep 1 cast a lot, esp. Ford and Chu. I never listened to the anomaly and was surprised that the Ford/Scott chemistry was so strong. Chu was also a great addition: I loved her spy-tip of the week. The mix was great altogether, but I’m worried that six is a litle much for a regular cast, as it doesn’t leave much room for guest stars.

Also, I was expecting at least one other person from CGWRadio/ GFWRadio/ LANParty to show up. I think people have requested Green, Elliott, and Molloy already, so I’ll throw out that I for one would love to hear Gladstone again.

Please keep up the Lost discussion! I’d bailed on the show after season 1, and when I decided to catch up a few months ago, I decided to also go back and listen to the older GFW Radio episodes in tandem week by week and it was pretty great.

Finally a question to think about: Is this a PC gaming podcast? Is it even a gaming podcast? CGWR/ GFWR/ LP were at their best when they went off-topic, but would those diversions still be as nice if there’s nothing they’re diverting from?

Great post, I can’t wait for the future episodes. Lots of good, balanced topic discussion in this one. Wicked.

Great first podcast! Looking forward to many more.

    Finally iTunes link, Thanks

    Keep em coming, there awesome!

The people whining about structure are the same people who skip reviews to read the scores. This is was awesome. Please keep going and don’t even worry about changing it!

yeah Dunkin Donuts are pretty damn awesome, especially when there are 4 within walking distance of your house, I have seen 3 maybe 4 starbucks in my life, I see Dunkin Donuts around every corner, and that’s how life is in Massachusetts

    Raw
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVOCA1EoD_k

concerning the Dunkin Donuts conversation, if I recall there is one in south Sacramento.

I really enjoyed listening to this! Great Podcast!

Only thing I would improve is I heard you guys saying “like” a lot. I know it’s hard to get out of habit, but fewer of them next time would be great :)

    Great Podcast.

As always with MMO talks, you never talk about FFxi, always out there doing its own thing for 6 years now.

The podcast was great! Keep up the good work and I’ll look forward to it each week. Take care, guys.

When this goes up on iTunes we’re gonna kick Oprah’s ass!

Any news on if Simon Cox or Mielke are going to make an appearance on either here or RebelFM? All the people that were on the podcasts were great, and it would be nice to hear from them what they’re up to, and their opinions on games of course!

You need to post some still pics of that podcast setup! In a comic store! Come on.

    Hey,

Not bad, but I am a little disappointed that we didn’t get Anthony and Robert Ashley as well.

    Decent start though.

Pretty good overall, but as suggestion, vet the personal stories and inside jokes a bit more, some hits and misses there.

Hey Ryan and the gang, great podcast. Cant wait for episode 100, 200 etc…
BTW: The wheat bread was to break you out of your white bread shell. You wouldn’t want to insult some big exec if he offers you wheat bread finger sandwiches at a interview.

No Joke, i live in Braintree in Essex in England and Fitch Just just made my jaw dropt! im gonna search for Stained glass windows with fitch lookalikes on as soon as i get home from work!!

Please try to make Karen Chu a regular.

I have to agree, Tetris DX for the GBC was the best Tetris EVER.

I am going to donate to the show if you will rent and wear a Purple Snuffalufagus costume while doing the show.
    Thanks is advance

    Great Podcast!

Post some pics of who is talking!!! I hate not knowing faces with voices!!!!

    PICTURES!

What were the numbers for CGW/GFW Radio/LAN Party?

Please post on iTunes soon so i can auto d/l future episodes~

    YOU’RE THE MAN, RYAN!

good first podcast, try to stay a little bit more focus’d and you guys will go far, but you already knew this.

Giving props to my hometown area, braintree!!! go boston!

This is one of the most awesome podcasts I’ve seen in a long time. While I noticed some people complaining about a lack of structure, I think that the all-over-the-place geekiness is the thing that makes is so good. Also, Watchmen is 44 days away.

Weird Local Connections! I’m a game development student from Worcester,MA. I know exactly the SEARS the guy’s were talking about.

    Great show guys (and girl)!

    Great show. More Please!

Hi Dudes, currently listenting to your Episode 1. Your games of the year.. Where is Banjo Kazooie – Nuts and Bolts!?! Have you guys played through it properly? Sure its a G rating. Though you have a mission, and can finish it with any veichle you can imagine to build that will do the task. Otherwise, your choices were all pretty good. (MASS EFFECT awesome!!). Good work. Keep it up!

Great job guys! Love the commentary and, suprisingly, the theme! Keep it up Ryan and Co.!

    best. podcast. ever.

Ryan (and cast), I love you guys, but this podcast was all over the place. I don’t mean this in the “omg, I will never listen to this shit ever again” way, but perhaps some more structure couldn’t hurt.

Still, for a thrown together, post-layoff podcast it was worth listening to. I look forward to the next get together.

Just finished listening. Great first cast. I had one request I wanted to put out there. Are any of you guys at all into the Indy PC game scene. I’ll admit to being a PC game podcast listener without a PC capable of playing most of the newest releases so I’m always particularly interested in what is going on in the world of Indy PC game development. I’d love it if you guys were to intersperse some chatting about that facet of gaming into your future casts.

    Best of luck going forward

    thanks Ryan,
    great podcast

Cube, the RSS feed should be working fine. Are you using the one linked in the post?

will the rss feed work soon? I do not use a ipod or zune I hate them, they suck my PDA/plamtop/whateva is a much better mp3 player.

Guy: Already asked — Patrick Joynt’s a no-go for this sort of thing due to his job. Although I agree, he’d be awesome.

Adam: We’ve all talked about doing something like what you’ve described, and it just might happen down the line. We’ll have to wait and see.

feministgamer: Rest assured that there will be lots of Lost discussion on the next episode. :)

Anthony Gornicki: The whole thing’s encoded at 80kbps; I was pretty happy with the file, size considering it’s 2 hours. And Snake Rattle N Roll drove me nuts.

    cody: I hope so too!

Sweet podcast, Ryan. I’m glad you decided to keep doing them. I went ahead and wrote a post on my site, plugging Geekbox.net and the show. Hope it brings in a bit of traffic.

    Cheers,
    Erron

[...] days of departure, the first Rebel FM podcast was out, and other projects such as Geekbox Radio have since hit the net -  all with a waiting and established fan-base who knew where and when this [...]

Listening to your podcast, but just heard the mention of the DK Country/Blockbuster tournament. They had the option of that or Genesis w/ Alien 3 & NBA Jam. Only owned a Genesis, but went w/ DK Country. Rented it, practiced it for a day and wound up winning the tournament. Felt like commenting on the awesome mention.

Great podcast. Keep up the rad work.

Is life and love of Fitch the new Chuf Love? I also wonder has he really planned ahead does the girl have the second most important thing second to land and that would be child bearing hips.

Gonna download it now, looking foward to it, thanks. Dugg!

Awesome podcast rydog can we expect this type of podcast everytime? I hope so.

Awesome episode. I thought the filesize was ok, it downloaded pretty fast… Are you using joint stereo and VBR? That may reduce the filesize without sacrificing quality…

Snake Rattle n Roll is a pretty sweet game, I remember renting that and being blown away by the graphics at the time. There were a lot of sprites on the screen at once, everything had that demoscene look to it, the only hard part was twisting your brain to work with the controls. Like Battletoads and Battletoads + Double Dragon, it got remade for the Genesis/Mega Drive… I’ve got both that and the NES version. I’m surprised anyone remembers it!

Anyway, great podcast, keep them coming :)

    Listened to it twice! Awesome……….

    Great podcast!

I hope you guys keep up with what you did on the GFW podcast, and discuss Lost when it starts up again. That was one of my favorite parts of the old podcast.

Just made front page of digg, congorats!

I really hope you guys amalgamate with eat-sleep-game/talkingorange. A unified hub would give you so much more power!

Thanks for working hard on this, I can’t wait to listen to this! Dugg you before the episode was out, and I’m ready to review you guys on iTunes as soon as it gets up there! 2+ hours = w00t! Seriously, you guys are like crack! But in a good way!

great podcast, glad to have guys back =)

Hey Ryan. Good job putting the panel together and the sound was great. I have a request for next episode: Patrick Joynt (assuming his employer will allow it).

    If you want the Podcast on your Zune, create a folder called GeekboxRadio in the following path;
    My Documents–>My Music–>Zune–>Podcasts

Use the direct download link and add the file to the GeekboxRadio folder there.

It will sync to the Zune and show up in the Podcasts section, but it won’t have any artwork or a description.

    Ryan Scott is the Shizniz!

    Great podcast dude.

Wow! Right out of the gate, you do a fantastic job. The audio quality is already putting Rebel FM to shame too. I see my donation choice was wise.

I’ll understand it if you have to put this thing to the wayside if, you know, real life insists you find a new job at some point. But until then, I’m happy to get 1UP replacements like this one on my Zune.

    Wow!

Now hurry up and get on iTunes already so that we can make you the new number 1 podcast!

I really enjoyed the show, you guys have good chemistry. You just need to watch the voice volume, as people were dropping in and out a bit. Still a great show though :)

On the MMOrpg with, you should check out Pirates of the Burning Sea, it’s sea combat system is a completely unique system for an MMO. The actual game straddles the line between Eve and WoW.

AWESOME! It’s 3AM and I’m totally listening to this right now. I’m a huge fan, when I heard the 1UP news, yours was the first page I visited to see if you were staying on. I’m so so glad that you are staying with us in a more… tangible way! (twitter is nice, but you know, it’s no podcast)

I’m excited to listen to the podcast. Thanks guys! The Man of Fitchistory, Greg the Yakker Ford, Ryan Scott are my heroes.

    P.S.
Please make Ryan Scott join in a few yak attacks

Awesome first show guys. I can’t wait for more!

On MMOs WoW might be the most popular but lots of other games are still alive. I also prefer City Of Heroes, even though I’m sure many will not agree. I do agree that MMOs need innovation. They still need to fix grinding. I am looking forward to Champions online though I might not ever play it since I don’t have a 360.

It is great to hear you once again.
Regarding Planetary, I feel your pain.
    fiendish-thingy.com/images/Planetary.jpg

Awesome to see/hear everything is going well. Good luck in all your ventures, and I can’t wait to hear from the awesomeness that is, this group.

    Great Podcast.
    Can’t wait for more.
Maybe some Booster Gold next week?

Really good podcast. Hope to hear the same cast on the next one.

Loved the podcast, Ryan! And you got the sound right the first podcast out the gate!

Hey, good stuff. I’ll have to add this to my weekly rotation of 20+ podcasts I listen to !

Can’t wait to listen. Once it’s on the iTunes feed I’ll have it in my grubby little hands.

    Thanks Ryan. This is awesome!!!

Well, I just head that Zune’s approval process was longer from Phillip Kollar on the 1st episode of Rebel FM, but that’s great that it’s up this fast. (I have no complaints either [even though I don't have a Zune])

yeah, if i didn’t have a dam ipod i won’t use itunes, thank you for all your hard work

Alec, that’s what I’d heard. But for whatever reason, it happened fast. No arguments here!

Doesn’t that application process for Zune take longer then iTunes?

Seth, just waitin’ on Apple to validate my feed submission. :)

please put the show on itunes asap

Awesome show I’m looking forward to hearing more from you guys.

    Fantastic Show…. keep it up….
I dugg it… Will Zune it as well….

loved it.. good conversation all around

Great show, looking forward to future episodes!

    Awesome job!

Excellent podcast. Signed up with Digg just to digg it. Good luck guys!

i like this. first we had ‘Chuf Love’ and now we have the ‘Fitch Hitch’.

    anyway great show.

Welcome back guys from a bloody late night in Ireland :)

    cant download?

This is amazing. Please, make more! Ryan Scott and Greg Ford might be the most refreshing podcast combination in a while. I hope he continues to be on this podcast!

    Hell yeah!

    Thanks Ryan, downloading now!

Sorry I can’t download it on iTunes, as I have a PSP, but downloading right now :O

Downloading now! Also Dugg, thanks duuuuudes.

Listening to the direct download right now. Fantastic!!! Can’t wait to subscribe through itunes.

Downloading it right now. Really can’t wait…keep up the good work!

    Subsrcibed ! Good luck .

I think Krispy Kreme had two problems when they came out to the east. A) They over expanded. B) Atkins craze started up.

nocturnx, there’s an RSS feed linked at the bottom of the right-hand sidebar.

Downloading now, I really like the sound of that cast.

    At last!

Congratulations on posting your first post-1up podcast. Here’s to many more happy returns.

thank you Ryanx2, Karen, Andrew, Greg, and Ernie. thank you for your work.

Is there an rss channel address so that I can d/l it on my psp?

mmm, so far so good. nice and geekboxy

Thanks Ryan, i have been looking forward to this podcast ever since you mentioned it.

yay, and good sound quality for the first ep

Awesome! I hope you can get Shawn Elliot back on the show someday. I really miss his musings.

Nazz, I will definitely take that into consideration. I encoded it at 128kbps, because I figured that’s pretty standard. The next one will possibly be a little lower if necessary. I also didn’t expect it to be quite this long. :)

100 megs is a serious bitch on dial-up. I can’t download this unless you compress it more – that’d take me something like eight hours to download.

I look forward to enjoying what all you guys have to say! You’re the coolest, Ryan!

    2 HOURS YES!!!!can’t wait

Thank you Ryan. But next time could you compress the audio a bit more? 100MB is a bit heavy for people with download caps.

Been waiting for this for a long time get that Zune feed up and I’m ready to ROCK!
